they call me... tim

i know i should use capital letters, but i am not a fan of what it does to the letter
"I", in most cases. if i had to decide between a tree that grew time
and a tree that grew money, i would honestly have to sit and think about which
to pick the fruit from. i do not eat fruit. nope. ask me again and i'll tell
you the same. i don't eat fruit and i don't eat seafood. i like to think i am
not "picky" because i knock out whole food groups at a time. i've
been told i have a dry sense of humor. i've also been told i look like howie
mandel. i'm not sure if that is a compliment. i am uber-blessed to have a wife
who "deals with me"... though she may run into eye trouble one day
for how much she rolls her eyes at my antics.

i love to take photos. i love what they capture of my life and your lives. and then i
love to take those moments and "paint" on them... to reflect some of
the emotion that is already there in a unique way.

on as well as session summaries. you will also find random promotions and
discounts, as well as sporadic views into my and my family's life.

siblings on holiday

after having shot her sister’s baby, i got an email from erika asking if i would be available while her family was in southern california. we decided to head down to the montage late one day for the best of both worlds of so cal outdoors (beach and kind of a park setting). one of the tricks that i always hear about from my photographer friends that have kids to get their little ones to pose and let them take photos is bribery. treats. fortunately for me, grandma already set up the bribe for me with a chocolate apple for these kids before they even met up with me. thanks grandma!

i really enjoyed how easily these two hung out with each other. you could tell there was a great bond between them.

the way that the girl would kind of busy herself with her hands while i talked with her was quite endearing and became something i wanted to capture for her parents.

the boy was extremely comfortable with the camera. he was rarin’ to go from the first click.

sometimes you can learn so much by stepping back and letting “kids be kids”. it is something i strive to do within every portrait session with the young’ns.

she was all about the shells and when she found the heart-shape in the empty mussel, i felt it encapsuled the day fairly well.

at the end of the day, the kids had a good time, the parents got to hang a little at the beach and there were chocolate covered apples to go around. i am still waiting for mine, actually… but that’s fine. i am a patient person.   :)

August 24, 2009 - 12:07 pm Erika Fox - Tim, I am loving these so much. you did an amazing job of capturing their personalities, even though my daughter was so resistent to having her photo taken. thanks!
