Tim Wheaton Photography | Southern California Natural Light Photographer bio picture

they call me... tim

i know i should use capital letters, but i am not a fan of what it does to the letter
"I", in most cases. if i had to decide between a tree that grew time
and a tree that grew money, i would honestly have to sit and think about which
to pick the fruit from. i do not eat fruit. nope. ask me again and i'll tell
you the same. i don't eat fruit and i don't eat seafood. i like to think i am
not "picky" because i knock out whole food groups at a time. i've
been told i have a dry sense of humor. i've also been told i look like howie
mandel. i'm not sure if that is a compliment. i am uber-blessed to have a wife
who "deals with me"... though she may run into eye trouble one day
for how much she rolls her eyes at my antics.

i love to take photos. i love what they capture of my life and your lives. and then i
love to take those moments and "paint" on them... to reflect some of
the emotion that is already there in a unique way.

add this page to your bookmarks. i will continue to show sneak previews of what i am working
on as well as session summaries. you will also find random promotions and
discounts, as well as sporadic views into my and my family's life.

elle | maternity photography

elle is about 2 months from her due date of her second baby boy. we talked a lot about photos and the meaning / importance of them during this time of a woman’s life. i hope these photos convey this to some of you out there, who may be on the fence. and i am not telling you that you need to hire me for your photos (it would be nice, of course)… but this falls into my most basic drive behind the way i take photos. it could almost be my mission statement.

as a man in my 30′s (do you really want the exact number? no? good), i wish that i had more photos of my youth to look back on. not only for myself, but all the more now, to share with my child. i don’t really have much in the way of a “maternity” session of my mom, either. i know it was a different era back then and photos are more commonplace now. and this is why people should be thinking of this. there is a good reason that photographs have always been on the top 3 of everyone’s “what would you grab from your house if there was a fire” list. and just because photos are digital now, doesn’t change that. photos are the record of our history. this is how and a good amount of “why” i photograph people.

too much typing already… back to elle. she did not take any photos during her first pregnancy and said that she really wanted to document it this time around. she wanted to also feel like she can still think of herself as attractive in her mama stage. so we set out to do just that.

let us know if you think we accomplished her goals.   :)

another fun session and a lovely mama. wishing her nothing but a smooth final trimester and an amazing birth experience… thanks, elle!

August 30, 2010 - 11:41 am ingrid - Oh I love your male perspective on this subject of maternity portraits. I think Elle looks AMAZING. I wish more mamas would consider capturing this special time in their lives. My mom doesn't have any photos of herself while she was pregnant with me and that makes me sad. I think everyone should have them done. Display them proudly, or save them for their children one day.

September 7, 2010 - 6:07 am Cass - TIMOTHY! These are flippin' unbelievable! So so beautiful! Ans she is so gorgeous - it's hard to look this good at 7 months but she is truly stunning! And I love love love how you shot her. Do I have a favorite? Hmm... It's hard but I think maybe the one of her just slightly out of focus, with her hair blowing in the wind, behind the tall dry grass... So beautiful!

September 10, 2010 - 10:40 am Lisa Zeno - Very Nice Cameos. These Should Be Called " Back To Eden"
