Tim Wheaton Photography | Southern California Natural Light Photographer bio picture

they call me... tim

i know i should use capital letters, but i am not a fan of what it does to the letter
"I", in most cases. if i had to decide between a tree that grew time
and a tree that grew money, i would honestly have to sit and think about which
to pick the fruit from. i do not eat fruit. nope. ask me again and i'll tell
you the same. i don't eat fruit and i don't eat seafood. i like to think i am
not "picky" because i knock out whole food groups at a time. i've
been told i have a dry sense of humor. i've also been told i look like howie
mandel. i'm not sure if that is a compliment. i am uber-blessed to have a wife
who "deals with me"... though she may run into eye trouble one day
for how much she rolls her eyes at my antics.

i love to take photos. i love what they capture of my life and your lives. and then i
love to take those moments and "paint" on them... to reflect some of
the emotion that is already there in a unique way.

add this page to your bookmarks. i will continue to show sneak previews of what i am working
on as well as session summaries. you will also find random promotions and
discounts, as well as sporadic views into my and my family's life.

alaine & vanessa: laguna niguel wedding ** Sneak Peek **

this weekend was a busy one and i wanted to get alaine and vanessa at least a teenie bit of a sneak peek from their wedding photos as soon as i could. this will be brief, but hopefully poignant. you know that “game” you can play at, say, disneyland where you grip this handle and...

karen & nick: tustin wedding (part 2)

the reception was held at the orange county mining co., which is a funky little restaurant up in the hills overlooking a few cities in the area. while the couple “worked the room”, you could tell how deeply loved they were. i love this first moment of a ring display  :) this friend of the...

karen & nick: tustin wedding (part 1)

karen and nick are one of those couples that have been together for years and you can just tell when you are around them. this is what relationships are all about: people clicking and able to completely be themselves with and around each other. it was fun to see them with their friends and family...

rachael: a bride in the making ** sneak peek **

this was a fairly interesting hiring. but one that i absolutely love. due to extreme budget constraints, rachael and her fiancee had to make some tough choices on their wedding day. one of the tougher ones was the realization that they just could not afford a professional photographer for the day. they ended up setting...

stephanie & david: san diego wedding reception

…and here is part two to the first part of this fantastic san diego wedding. we pick up with our dashing couple here, following the “i do”‘s and the customary family photos. we walked out onto the beach in front of their ceremony site at the la jolla shores hotel for some photos. i usually...

ell oh vee eeh

love. how does it affect you? who do you show it to? and how do you express it? with words? with actions? with gestures? with a touch? with a note? those who know me and are allowed to see into this soul of mine, know how sensitive i am and how much love means to...

emil & joanie: all you need is love (part 2)

i wanted to separate these two posts from this fantastical wedding or a good reason. as i said in the first part, i was originally hired with the idea of this being more of like “event photography”, than a normal kind of wedding. you got the wedding photos in the last post, now here is...

emil & joanie: all you need is love (part 1)

joanie was referred to me by a good friend (thanks again, gillian!!). it was always discussed as more of “event photography” than a wedding type day. they would be getting married in a small ceremony at their new home with family and a few friends attending. the reception and photos of everyone in attendance was...

laurie & dwight: holiday wedding

my communication with the bride over emails was fairly intriguing. the usual inquiries were made, details exchanged… and after some time, she hinted that we know each other. i had to rack my brain to recall all of the laura’s and laurie’s i have known over the course of my lifetime. when i was a...

rachael & tim: a love that spans both coasts

i have known tim for quite a few years now, so when he and rachael inquired about hiring me to shoot one of, if not the most important day of their lives, i have to admit i got a little nervous. i mean, let’s get down to brass tacks for a second, shall we? i...
